In nomination as the “Discovery of the Year” to the ”Gala Les Olivier 2010″, Stéphane Poirier as a unique goal: Make people laugh! As one of the most polyvalent humorist of his generation, he has a very diversified background.
La tournée de A @ Z
Last March (2011), Stéphane Poirier challenged himself to perform 26 representations of his show in 26 different cities in 31 days! Furthermore, he accomplished this by following the order according to the alphabetical order of each city’s’ name. The one man show, intended for the general public, was created for this particular province-wide marathon.
For very personal reasons, Stéphane Poirier decided to generously donate 50% of the profits generated by this tour to Ste. Anne’s Hospital Foundation.
On behalf of our Canadian Veterans at Ste. Anne’s Hospital, we thank Stéphane from the bottom of our heart.
Michel Loiselle – Composer and Interpreter
Born in Valleyfield in 1970, a small town in the south of the province of Quebec, he discovered music at a very young age. Talented keyboardist and singer, he joined several bands and performed all accross the province.
In 2005, his song Unremembered Poppy received the Alcan Award at the ”Festival international de la chanson de Granby”. In 2008, this same song was adopted as the theme song of Ste. Anne’s Hospital Foundation. Indeed, Michel Loiselle sang the Unremembered Poppy song to the launching of Ste. Anne’s Hospital’s Employees’ Campaign to which Dan Bigras also participated. In 2009, the Foundation used the music of the song for a radio publicity.
Stories for Andrew: Rantings and Amusements for a Soldier Abroad by Newfoundland author A.J. Gillard is compiled of a series of short stories and poetry she originally sent as letters and emails to her beloved cousin, Master Warrant Officer Andrew Simms. Often separated by Andrew’s various deployments around the globe, Ms. Gillard sought to send him a laugh from home now and again, something to take his mind off the arduous task of serving his country. Over the years, those tiny tales have accumulated into this delightful collection. Ms. Gillard hopes these brief entertainments will lighten the hearts of many who find themselves so far from home.
A generous donation of $2.00 for every copy of Stories for Andrew sold will be made to Ste. Anne’s Hospital Foundation. One hundred copies of Stories for Andrew: Rantings and Amusements for a Solider Abroad have also been donated to Canadian troops in Afghanistan and will hopefully continue to fly anywhere our soldiers do.
